👤I never knew it was possible to dislike a headphone amplifier as much as I dislike this thing. There is a The good news first. It sounds good when it's working. There is a During a session, I discovered that my Headphone 1 mix has a bad channel. The singer could only hear one side of the phone. I switched over to mix 2 to complete the session after about 20 minutes of problems. There was more fun than that. I couldn't get the unit out of the rack. The thing is over the standard 1.75 inches. There are four round head screws that protrude from the bottom of the chassis, which is exactly 1.75 inches. I discovered that I had damaged the piece of gear below when I tried to remove it from the rack. There is a The bad channel popped on after I removed the chassis. Woohoo! I have used a lot of Mackie gear over the years and always liked it because it was always bullet proof. I haven't purchased any of their gear in a while. I fear that things have changed. This was a complete failure and I would like you to look elsewhere. Side note... The reviewer stated that the unit is not stereo because he only hears one side of his headphones. Looks like there are quality control issues.

👤I give this 5 stars because it's very well made with metal parts and everything, but the only thing that's bad is that my headphones are STEREO, so be careful. I can only listen to one side of my headphones.

👤It works great and it's great value. The signal was mono according to some reviews. That's not the case here. It's clear that Mackie wouldn't sell a mono amplifier. Go for it! It works well.

👤I would have liked to give this product a 5 star rating, but I am not able to. I received a bad product. The input jack isn't working right. I only get Mono sound if I push the 1/2 all the way in. I had to tie the two wires together. I threw away the packaging because I didn't want to return it. There is a This is a great product. I would have liked a working unit.

👤I play in a band that does local parties. Our singer wants to hear only keys but during the show he would get loud guitar, so we always had an issue with the speaker monitors. On top looping because of the speakers. We had the best show of the year with this. Many people have said that we bought our own earphones. We could clearly hear everyone, and we could control the level of sounds for each individual. I recommend this for bands that don't want to break their bank to solve what this solved for us.

👤Maybe my expectations were too high for this product. I've always been impressed with the price of Mackie. I've heard a lot of expensive speakers and studio monitors, but I think the Mackie Hr824 are the best I've ever heard. The headphones amplifier sounds terrible. I've tried several pairs of headphones and none of them sound good. The Dt770s sound more treble heavy than normal, lower impedance headphones have a hiss due to the high noise floor, and higher impedance headphones like the HD650 sound like those tinny earbuds they packed with the old ipods. The best sounding headphones I've used with it are from Mackie. These sound decent but don't sound as good as other Amps, including my phone's jack. There is a It's $30 and it will drive every headphone in my collection to a listenable level. It's a great product if you only care about controlling the volume of your headphones, and you want something to do that. It appears to be very durable and well built. It's useful in situations where sound quality isn't a big concern. If you want your headphones to sound good, look elsewhere.

👤Over the years, I've owned a number of Mackie mixers, from the VLZ workhorses to the ProFX series V2. The only problem I had was using one for home recording. They had to sit in front of my interface. I wanted to use the eq in the software, not just in the Mackie equipment. The v2 series have a headset but it's not easy to use when recording. The new ProFX10 v3 series does it well. The channels are silent for quiet passages like acoustic guitar and vocals. The 3-Band eq is very nice sounding and the compressor is a nice touch. There are more of the new GIGFX effects that I can hear. You can record with almost anything you plug in with the 60db of gain on the mic pre's. I used my old SM58 to record a few vocal tracks for testing. I switched to the new v3 model because of the monitoring ability. They built in a "blend" circuit and knob to allow you to record a new track while a previously recorded track is playing back, just like in a real studio. The blend knob allows you to hear exactly how much of your recording you want in your headset. There is a separate volume knob for studio speaker monitoring. There is a The model has gone with level knobs instead of sliding faders. I don't like the idea of sliding faders on small boards, they are hard to tune while sitting at a desk. They collect dirt more easily. This makes the mixer very small on the desk. I'm looking forward to mixing a live show with this.

👤It has the same sound as you're used to from Mackie. Quiet. The effects sound good, but I don't have experience with them. There is a The build quality is good. This thing will run for a long time. There is a When it comes to theusb input channels, I have an issue. It's not possible to route the outputs to the main. The input blend is available to CR/Headphone. It's useful for tracking and recording so you can hear what's happening on a computer but not have to listen to it on the other computer. You can use that channel on the mains if you have a toggle. It's so frustrating. There is a We get to the channels. They can be switched on channel 9 of the mixer. You can use either a Stereo Mini or 3-4usb channels. This is the size of a Spinal Tap. The Mac drivers don't allow you to expose both the 1-2 and 3-4 inputs at the same time. You can use a cumbersome process in the MacOS Audio/MIDI tool to switch between 2x2 and 2x4. This leads me to a work-around where I use the Mac's headphones outputs to run the mixer's headphones into the 9/10 channel. Really? When a nice, clean digital channel is available, I'm using a noisy mini jack cable. It was painful.

👤The 10 channel version had endless crashes and issues and had to use a restore point. The 12 channel version was ordered to test what might be happening. I messed up by re-checking the 10 channel version and now I am crashing all over again, trying to restore major issues. Get it together!

👤I was surprised to find a warped front panel when I unbox the unit. The package was undamaged, and the unit was clean and new. The steel used for the front panel was very strong, and the paint was perfect. It was locked up to the unit. It's like someone slapped a warped panel on the unit and it was called good. I wanted to see if it fit and how bad it looked in the rack. I found the washer head screws on the bottom that I assume hold the internal PSU in place. The rest of the unit uses flat head screws. The unit cannot be mounted above another item in the rack because the screws extend outside the 1U footprint. The pots and buttons felt good. All the lights came on after I powered it on. I didn't test the unit anymore since I returned it and didn't want to damage it.

👤It is a great product, very smooth and clear.

👤Every music producer faces the time when they need to add a little gain to some signals or mix a few outputs so they can share common inputs. In the past month, I have had two such occasions. One time I had to pre-mix a stereo pair to another input pair of a different computer audio interface because my computer audio interface wasn't putting out enough signal to drive my speakers properly. If you run them flat, they are completely transparent. They don't color the audio in any way. For the price, you get an excellent solution to many problems that could cost a lot of money to fix, and that's what you get with Mackie. I have never had a problem with any of their products. These little boxes are great for anwone who needs to mix just a few line outputs, or for someone who needs a gain solution that may not be obvious to them at the time.

👤It was what my brother wanted.
